We hope to shed new light in a previously dark stone hallway. We hope this exhibit illuminates a new appreciation for the visual arts within the North Heights Community, connects us with our Heavenly Father, creates a place for artists to share their gifts with us, and expands compassion for the artists in our body. As this is the first glimmer of the full vision for the visual arts at North Heights, we hope these works, from our first Light Studio Artists and Instructors, inspire you to enlarge your idea of the what the visual arts in the church can look like: bold, unique, different, intriguing, engaging, contemporary, new.
About The Light Studio
The Light Studio desires to equip, encourage, and give opportunities for creative expression in the arts to those gifted in artistic areas in a Christian context.
Though it began as an academy, classes have been put on hold and focus has been shifted to supporting North Heights ministries as needed. This ministry is still developing, but any artists looking for community and a place to gather and share their talents are welcome to get involved.
The Light Studio also houses a gallery for professionals and students to display their works and offers individuals a unique opportunity to create art and seek Christ at the same time.
The Light Studio is committed to creating a climate for growth and discovery, exploring the Christian Faith in many creative ways. If we are truly created to be reflections of God, then we are all created to be creative. We express this God-given creativity in wildly diverse ways and The Light Studio celebrates and fosters the gifts God has given to those desiring to worship him through the visual arts.
Artist Instructors, highly skilled in their medium, are from all over the Twin Cities and bring a wealth of knowledge, care, and skill. In addition to the monthly gatherings, we host retreats, artist talks, and workshops throughout the year where more intentional fellowship, discussion, inspiration, and encouragement can occur, helping visual artists feel valued and connected.
As The Light Studio continues to grow and expand, we are always looking for individuals who want to help. Whether that is teaching, helping set up the gallery, donating fine art supplies, or praying, we would love to see where God can use your gifts in this ministry! Or maybe you just have a great idea for a class? Let us know!
