Michael has been involved with music as a singer and conductor for much of his life. He had a great high school choir/band director who influenced him to pursue a Music Education Degree in voice and conducting. Michael graduated from Waldorf College, Forest City, IA (a two-year college at the time) and then completed his B.A degree at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. He had the opportunity to sing in both concert choirs at the respective colleges, touring the United States and Norway. After graduation, Michael taught vocal music at a Jr./Sr. High school in Minnesota for two years. His calling, however, in the music field was in church music. Michael directed church choirs throughout the Twin Cities area until being hired on a part-time basis at North Heights Lutheran Church, directing the North Heights Chorale and Prism Light ensembles. Michael also sang in a professional ensemble, the National Lutheran Choir, for three years.
Michael's interests include fishing, biking, playing sports, and being a sports fan for Minnesota Gopher athletics as well as the professional sports in Minnesota. He also enjoys various action/adventure movies and the TV series, 24. Michael has been married to Lori Jo for 30 years and has three lovely daughters, Jenessa, Jocelin, and Jillian. He must also include the family pet, a wonderful dog -- Ginger.
