Being in Relationship with God
How do we come to know and experience the love of God? God has
purposed that we come to know him through his word, the Bible, and through relationships in the community of believers that is the "church."
The Bible teaches that the church is not a building but the people of God gathered together in his name
(IJohn 5:2).
Belonging to the Family of God
In a world of broken relationships, the church is intended to be that blended family of people committed to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love others as one's self. In fact, Jesus said that our love for one another would prove to the world that we are his followers (John 13:35). As God's childre, we have been given spiritual gifts to build each other up and grow in love. God has intended us to share fullness of life with one another in the new family of faith. Each member has a place and function that is needed to promote the health and vitality of the body and to bring it to completeness (Ephesians 4).
Becoming a Community of Powerful Purpose
Membership with a local body of believers includes both the opportunity for personal spiritual growth, and for public commitment to a cause much greater then what one or a few may accomplish by themselves.
As members of the body of Christ, we are called to reach out to those who are lost. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me" (John 14:6). The world cannot ignore a community of people united in powerful purpose to know Jesus Christ and to make him known. Our goal is to be community that witnesses by words and actions the love and power of God.
